The International Institute of Health Sciences (IIHS) hosted its tenth annual Research Forum, BioInquirer, at its cutting-edge facility in Kerawalapitiya on November 25, 2023. The Conference, operating under the theme ‘Innovation 4.0 Navigating Digital Sustainability,’ emerged as a resounding success, drawing over 500 participants, including both local and international attendees. Notably, the event witnessed the presentation of more than 300 publications across various fields of study.

Under the guidance of Dr. Kithsiri Edirisinghe, CEO, and Co-Founder of IIHS, the BioInquirer Research Forum has evolved into a prestigious platform for evidence-based practice. Dr. Edirisinghe highlighted the importance of instilling a culture of evidence-based decision-making, not only in healthcare but across all sectors. He emphasized the need to equip the youth with the skills necessary to confront the challenges of the 21st century. Reflecting on the success of the event, Dr. Edirisinghe stated, “The Research Forum is part of moving towards a global citizen, a professional concept that IIHS has developed, and one component is to create evidence-based practice, thinking, and action. At this Research conference, we gather a multitude of international knowledge into one forum.”

The keynote speaker for the occasion was Prof. Nishan Silva, a distinguished consultant, academic, and researcher affiliated with IIHS. Currently serving as a fellow in the Australasian Institute of Digital Health (AIDH), Prof. Silva is a Certified Health Informatician for Australasia and an Associate Fellow of the Association for Medical Education in Europe (AMEE). His comprehensive expertise in Health Informatics, Medical Education, and Clinical General Practice has resulted in over 35 extended and abstract publications in international journals. Prof. Nishan Silva, a founding member of the IIHS Scientific Committee and IIHS BioInquirer, played a pivotal role in establishing the BioInquirer Research Forum. Speaking about the event, Prof. Silva expressed his enthusiasm for the wealth of knowledge shared at the conference and the opportunity it provides to bridge global partnerships.

Since its inception, the BioInquirer Research Forum has contributed significantly to the dissemination of knowledge, with over 1800 publications released. This not only enriches local understanding but also adds valuable insights to the global academic landscape.
